Narrow loss for Pro Life Kelburne 5s
Rottenrow 3s v Pro Life Kelburne 5s Saturday 9th April
The 5s team took to the pitch knowing that they needed to start winning to avoid relegation. This was always going to be a difficult game against the adult Rottenrow side. Both teams started well with Willie Hunt exceptional in defence for Kelburne. The play travelled from end to end but the best chances were falling to Rottenrow. In goal young Matthew Retson was having a great game keeping the Rottenrow forwards at bay. The midfield including youngster Fergus Noble were marshalled by Gordon Martin were holding their own and up front youngsters Rory Semple, Sam Hunt and Jay Berry worked hard. After a couple of near things Rottenrow broke the dead lock when a pass flashed across the D to be tapped in at the back post by a Rottenrow forward. This spurred Kelburne on and they replied with some good pressure of their own. Kelburne won a short corner but couldn't make anything from it. They finally got the equaliser when a shot was blocked but Aaron Primrose followed up to bullet the ball home.
HT Rottenrow 3s 1-1 Pro Life Kelburne 5s
Rottenrow started the 2nd half strongly pressing the Kelburne defence but youngsters Matthew Reid and Cameron McIntyre were defending well, making tackles and clearing the danger. Peter Robertson had changed to upfront and was giving Kelburne an outlet pass. Rottenrow though continued to press and won a series of short corners. From one of these they scored from the rebound despite the best efforts of Matthew Retson and Ryan Wood. Kelburne pushed forward and created some chances of their own. The Rottenrow keeper had a great save from a Jay Berry reverse stick shot. Shortly after Jay received a great pass which he did well to control in the area but the the keeper was quickly out and managed to block his shot. A couple of half chances fell to both teams but there was no more scoring.

A good performance from the 5s with the youngsters putting in good performances which gives encouragement for the future. Next Saturday Kelburne 5s are away to Stepps 3s
