ProLife Kelburne Mens 5s Lose to Helensburgh 2s - 12.11.16
ProLife Kelburne Mens 5s welcomed back veteran Alan Bryce as they faced Helensburgh 2s at Glasgow Green. The older Helensburgh team came out of the blocks quickly winning a short corner after 1 minute. This was comfortably defended and Kelburne were unlucky as they headed back up the field creating a couple of chances. But it was Helensburgh who would score first as the ball was fired past Dougie McEwan. In 8 minutes Kelburne won a short corner and as the ball bounced about the area a shot appeared to come off the foot of a defender on the goal line. Although thinking it should be a penalty flick a short corner was awarded. Helensburgh doubled their lead in 21 minutes from a short corner, the ball eventually being redirected past Dougie. Soon after it was 3-0 but Kelburne were still creating chances and not out of the game. They got their reward after 30 minutes when Willie Hunt fired home. Soon after Kelburne scored again when Aaron Primrose pulled the young 5s back into the game. As the clock ticked down to halftime Kelburne lost the ball inside the 22 gifting an opportunity to Helensburgh which they dispatched. HT Kelburne 2-4 Helensburgh The 4th goal had knocked the stuffing out of Kelburne and Helensburgh had the upper hand at the start of the 2nd half having a goal disallowed for a back stick. Kelburne slowly came back into the game and an Aaron Primrose shot from a short corner zipped past the wrong side of the post. It became end to end with Dougie McEwan pulling off some good saves and Kelburne creating chances and having a series of short corners. As so often can happen Kelburne were hit with a couple of late goals to leave the final score 6-2 to Helensburgh. A good shift was put in from the youngsters Callum Stewart, Callum Brown, Calum Jamieson, Callum Flemming, Jack Nelson and Sam Hunt who are learning a lot in their first season.
