Today saw the climax of the Scottish National League with Bromac Kelburne knowing that a win would give them their 12th consecutive league trophy. The squad was in a buoyant mood before the game after their thrilling victory over Menzieshill the day before in the Scottish Cup semi final. Bromac Kelburne assistant coach Iain Scholefield made it clear that the team couldn't take a victory for granted and would have to work their "cotton socks off" if they were to get the victory!

The match started with Bromac Kelburne keeping most of the possession without creating many clear cut chances. Midway through the half the pressure paid off with Bromac Kelburne winning a short corner. Josh Cairns stepped up with a trade mark drag flick, which was illegally stopped by a Wildcats defender on the line. Cairns then coolly slotted the ball into the bottom corner to give them a well deserved lead. More chances fell to Bromac Kelburne, with one cannoning off the post but they were unable in increase their lead at half time.

After some inspirational words from stand in coach Johnny Christie and club president Mark Fulton, the team started the second half with good energy and work rate. Kelburne were lucky to keep their lead as the Wildcats thought they had scored a crucial equaliser. The umpires disagreed and no goal was awarded. This seemed to really clip the claws of the Wildcats as they didn't create many more clear cut chances. There was one sour moment midway through the second half which saw Adam Bain stretchered off with what looked like a serious injury. Thankfully for the club Bain was able to find the strength to soldier on and rejoined the action soon after. As the half went on and the Wildcats tired Bromac Kelburne we able to punish the opposition with two quick goals. Both saw some great individual skills from Lee Morton, who was able to first pick out Ben Peterson for a simple tap in and then close to full time found veteran Ross McPherson who was able to lift the ball high into the Wildcats goal.

The full time whistle signalled the start of the celebrations for Bromac Kelburne who were crowned League Champions for the 12th consecutive year.

Bromac Kelburne's next game is the Cup Final on Saturday 2nd April.
