Mens 1s Win vs Gordonians
/MNL Div 1 - Bromac Kelburne Mens 1s Win vs Gordonians - 22.10.16
Kelburne went in to today's game looking to keep the 100% record in place.
The Burne started fast and within the opening minute had the first chance of day. The Gordonians keeper made a decent save. The deadlock was broken by the evergreen Johnny Christie. The goal came from a great piece of play by Ben Peterson which allowed JC to finish off the rebound. JC was again on the score sheet by turning in a cross from wide and putting him in the search for his 3rd for a second week running. Again JC and Ben Peterson hooked up but this time it was BP who scored a superb front stick shot. Scottish international Lee Morton scored the 4th with a brilliant reverse shot.
1/2 time came and went and the Burne had the game in the bag. The Aberdeen squad resorted to some break down play and the umpires lost control of the game. Kelburne got complacent and allowed Aberdeen to score a soft goal. Keeper Kerr slipping before the shot which he would normally have dealt with comfortably.
The game turned quite sour when ex-Burne player Stu Allan putting a very late challenge in on Lee Morton resulting in him leaving the pitch in a neck brace. JC converted the PF and walked away with the kookie and his first hatrick of season. After both teams had calmed down the game was certainly taken by Kelburne. The team started to dominate possession and physically. The Burne scored the 6th of the day through stand in right back Gary Maitles. After a break down from a corner, Maitles manages to tap the ball in to an empty net. Gary was extremely pleased to score his first of the season and will certainly gain his $10.
The game finished with the Burne down to 9 men. First Adam Bain received a yellow card and then Ben Peterson a straight red, both deserved.
Final Score: Kelburne v Gordonians 6-1
Next game is a big match away to Grange.
