Kelburne Mens' 5s Draw Against Giffnock 1s 1-1
/On 23.3.19 - 1st half: Kelburne 5s set out a very experienced team, with the addition of some on form youngsters. After settling into the game Kelburne gradually increased the pressure on Giffnock, who at best, were limited to the occasional counter attack. Kelburne were rewarded for their hard work after a flurry of shots saved by a very agile Giffnock keeper, a clearance picked up by Michael Caranchan was clinically fired low into the corner of the goal. A few substitutions were made as halftime approached but unfortunately Kelburne seemed to lose their momentum and it wasn’t long before Giffnock would capitalise, levelling before the break. HT Kelburne 5s 1-1 Giffnock 1s 2nd half: The positive attitude of the Kelburne 5s was evident as they tried to regain their grip on the game. Obviously buoyed by their performance in the first half hour of the match, they knew they could win this game. A couple of penetrating runs from Dick Donaldson came close and a similar effort form Sam Hunt forced the keeper to pull of a wonderful save. The Kelburne youngsters also managed to stretch the Giffnock defence a number of times, hitting the baseline and firing dangerous balls across the face of the goal but unfortunately, nobody was able to convert. It was starting to look like the game was destined to be a draw as both teams searched for the winner but just lacked the killer finish. In the end Kelburne got the very least they deserved and can be proud of the effort put in by the whole team. FT Kelburne 5s 1-1 Giffnock 1s
