The Kelburne Men's 6s Draw vs Clydesdale 5s 1-1
/On Saturday 21.9.19 - A youthful looking Kelburne 6’s took to the field against Clydesdale firmly in their own half. In 16mins Kelburne had the first clear chance with Adam Jack driving down the right wing and cutting the ball back in to the dee, the shot drifted past the Clydesdale keepers right hand post. Kelburne continued to press and this time Ross Young dispossessed Clydesdale’s centre back, only for the keeper to clear for the home team. With the 1st half drawing to a close Kelburne kept the pressure up and a goal line clearance this time kept the scores level. Clydesdale's first venture in to the Kelburne dee was just before half time resulting in a short corner. Kelburne club veteran Willie Hunt cleared the threat on the Kelburne goal which spurred Kelburne straight up the field in what was to be the final bit of action in the 1st half, Fraser Berry latched on to a through ball and squared this in the dee to the on coming Hamish Walker who tuck this opportunity away for a well deserved 1-0 lead at the end of the 1st half. The 2nd half started just as the first had ended, with Kelburne on the front foot, Fraser Berry once again pushing down the right wing and driving the ball across the dee to Declan Mcgee who rounded the Clydesdale keeper only for the shot to hit the side net. Kelburne just would not let Clydesdale out there own half and with another short corner, Ross Young shot just past the Clydesdale goal. On 65mins Willie Hunt picked the ball up in the Kelburne D, driving over the half way line and unleashing the forwards for another assault on the Clydesdale goal. Just as the game looked to be drawing to a close Clydesdale made a rare appearance in the Kelburne D, forcing a short corner, the first attempt at goal was blocked, but the 2nd successive short corner was driven in to the goal at the left hand post, just beyond the reach of Kelburne keeper Reece Nicholl for an equaliser, much against the run of play it has to be said. Final score 1-1.
Kelburne’s next match is away against Giffnock on 5th October. On this form the youngsters in the squad can take great heart form consecutive positive performances.
