Kelburne L1s 4-3 WIT L1s
Scorers: Simone Upman, Jazlyn Sandhu, Lois Craig and Charley Austin
Kelburne ladies 1s made a strong start on Thursday night in their rearranged Scottish cup fixture.
Pressure was put on WIT immediately with the Kelburne midfield moving the ball nicely into space. This created the opportunity for Simone Upman to take her shot securing the first goal for Kelburne. This gave the girls some confidence and Jazlyn Sandhu was able to swiftly make it 2, from a strong deflection. WIT were quick to regather themselves and took their opportunities well, with a fast counter attack they pulled back 2 goals within the second quarter. Kelburne regrouped at halftime coming out determined and composed.
Good attacking play won Kelburne a penalty corner which was converted by Lois Craig on the post. WIT were persistent and took advantage of Kelburne being reduced to 10, as Upman received a 2 minute green. The pressure was too much for the Kelburne defence and WIT pulled back a 3rd goal. Upman returned to the field only to be sent from the field again on a yellow card. Kelburne maintained their position and focus and prevented any further advantage being taken by WIT. With full numbers again, Kelburne got into a good rhythm moving the ball quickly and with force across the pitch before winning another penalty corner. Charley Austin made it 4 with a strong reverse shot from the top of the circle. With not much time remaining WIT tried to regain themselves and create another opportunity but Kelburne stood strong till the final whistle ending the match at 4-3 to Kelburne.
