29/10/2022 - 15:00pm
Kelburne M2s 1-1 Glasgow Uni M2s
Scorer: Charlie Feeney
On 29/10/2022 Kelburne Men’s 2’s continued their unbeaten start to the season against Glasgow Uni
Kelburne didn’t make the best of starts to the game with GU applying pressure right from the start in the first quarter and creating a couple of chances that called Lewis Berry into action who made some good saves early on to keep the score level. Kelburne started to grow more into the game as the quarter went on but were not up to their usual standards in the first quarter but still created a few chances.
Kelburne started the second quarter more positively and created some good chances with Callum McCaffer played in 1 on 1 with the keeper but some good tracking back from GU meant Callum was only able to win a short corner. GU again created some good chances, but some good defensive work and great goalkeeping meant the score was 0 – 0 at half time.
Kelburne started the 3rd quarter brightly and their hard work was rewarded when a long corner was taken quickly by Martin Byrne and played into the D where it was deflected by Scott Love to Charlie Feeney who finished well to put Kelburne in front. Kelburne continued to play well throughout the 3rd quarter and created numerous good chances the best of which came when Don Tervit Played a long ball up to Callum McCaffer who slipped it back post to Steven Berry who was unfortunate not to put Kelburne 2 in front. Kelburne go into the final quarter leading 1-0 but were unfortunate because they could be 2, or 3 Infront.
GU start the final quarter well Pressing Kelburne high up the park creating a frantic pace that would dominate the final quarter. Some careless play from Kelburne meant GU where able to win the ball and play it quickly up the pitch to their forward who takes a reverse which is initially saved by Lewis 65ikoljwqwqwho’s unlucky as it falls to a GU player who slid the ball into the net to make it 1-1. The frantic tempo continued for the remainder of the game with both sides having some chances but ultimately the final whistle would go with the score at 1-1.
Kelburne continued their unbeaten start to the season and remain top of the table but, will feel unlucky not to have taken the 3 points having created numerous good chances and having conceded from a frantic period of play. There were many positives to take from the game with Kelburne creating good chances and continuing their positive development this season under coach Chris Caldwell.
Kelburne 2’s take on Edinburgh Uni 4’s at home next weekend.
