Q Bikes Kelburne Mens 2s continue good form
/Q Bikes Kelburne Mens 2s v Uddingston 2s Saturday 12th March Kelburnes second team set out once again to try and keep their good form going. The past couple of weeks had been encouraging with big wins over Watsonians and Clydesdale and we had no intention of slowing down.
The sun was out and we also started brightly, instantly putting pressure on the Uddingston defence. After a couple of near misses from short corners, it wasn’t long before the men in yellow managed to turn possession into points with a well worked play and a classy reverse finish from Andrew Duff. Kelburne remained strong for the most part of the first half, with flowing hockey parting the opposition with ease and grace. We quickly added a second and third goal to the score sheet through Duff and Bremner; a big victory was on the cards with Uddingston in disarray and arguments. However form slipped in the latter stages with scrappy, disorganised play ending the first half and midfielder Miles Goldie heading off to A and E with a knock to the wrist. The kelburne defence stood strong and keeper Jambo stopping a couple of one on ones to keep his clean sheet.
Half time: Q Bikes Kelburne Mens 2s 3 – 0 Uddingston 2s.
The second half was much more of how the first ended with disorganised play from both sides. But Kelburne were comfortably in the lead and made sure not to press too hard for further goals. As the game progressed, Uddingston pushed harder and harder but the Kelburne didn't budge and managed to turn defence into attack quickly and broke the second half deadlock with a fourth through Ross Wallace. The game was near but over but we kept in search of more goals and found another in the last five minutes again through youngster Ross Wallace.
A comprehensive win but still things to work on for next Sunday against Edinburgh Uni 2s. Hopefully back in the title race.
Final score: Q Bikes Kelburne Mens 2s 5 – 0 Uddingston.
