ProLife Kelburne Ladies 3s Narrowly Miss out to East Kilbride

ProLife Kelburne Ladies 3s Narrowly Miss Out to East Kilbride - 6.11.16

In the West district Ladies cup Kelburne hosted East Kilbride at Linwood on a sunny Sunday afternoon. High on adrenaline the girls were keen to continue on a strong performance the day before. Nevertheless the experience EK side looked set to spoil the party and if was not long before they were dictating play. Nichola Brown returned to the Kelburne goals after some maternity leave and was on fine form, keeping the ball out of the Kelburne goal. East Kilbride threatened and eventually broke the deadlock in the 25th minute after converting a corner. Ensuring they were into half time 1-0 up. The second half saw a different Kelburne side, one that looked energised and enthused. Returning to the right back position after a spell in midfield Neave Halliday created no end of trouble for EK down the right hand side. Her perseverance paid off and in the 55th minute Kelburne equalised through her thunderous strike from top of the circle. Nevertheless Kelburne continued to press and push for the winner and unfortunately EK capitalised on this high press and scored from a fast break on the final five minutes. Kelburne unfortunately so. It profess to the next round of the cup, but will be extremely happy with the style and pace of hockey that they played. They return to league action next Saturday and Sunday facing Glasgow Uni and Western Wildcats.

Well done to Rebecca Feeney, Isla Taylor and Kirsty Gilles on their debut 3s match!
