Prolife Kelburne 5s lose to experienced Western 4s
/Western Wildcats 4s v Prolife Kelburne 5s
Saturday 23rd April
Kelburne 5's travelled to Auchenhowie to take on an experienced Western 4's side in a positive mood after a much improved performance in their last outing against Rottenrow. The, mainly, young side started the game well with a few good passages of play but as the half wore on the experience of the Western side showed and they took a 2 nil lead with two quick goals from a short corner and a close range finish through keeper Matthew Retsons legs. Kelburne looked to be improving as the half wore on.
HT Prolife Kelburne 5s 0 - 2 Western Wildcats 4s
The second half started brightly for Kelburne with several opportunities but none leading to clear cut chances. The Kelburne defence was holding strong at the other end with Alan Bryce, Willy Hunt and Ryan Wood all making vital tackles and stops with Matthew Retson making a couple of fine saves to deny the Wildcats. The experienced Western forwards eventually found a way past the Kelburne defence when a ball was fired into the area and was deflected high past Matthew. At the other end chances kept on coming for the Kelburne side with strikers Aaron Primrose and John Miller unlucky not to convert a couple of well saved shots. With the game drawing to an end a strike from Western into the D was touched past Retson in goals to give the Wildcats a 4 nil lead and to secure 3 points.
A good performance from the young Kelburne side against a strong Wildcats side especially considering the Wildcats 11-0 the week before. A couple of big games left for the 5s but based upon this performance, the 5's have every opportunity to avoid relegation.
